I ♥ YOU

I have never been one to decorate for Valentine's Day. In the past the decorations were just the ones the boys brought home from school. The doily with the heart pasted in the center that would hang on the frig and that would be it. Until I was walking thru Target and saw these blocks. $2.50...how could I pass that up. Not even sure why they caught my eye...but I like 'em.

Then I saw this iron transfer on Dear Lillie (and it was free) and went to town...

Wondering what else I can iron je t'aime on...t-shirt? How cute would that be?

just keeping a tradition alive

Every year after all the Christmas stuff comes down, I feel a little down. The house looks down, I think it's feels naked. So every year it seems like we buy a piece of furniture, this year was no different.

A few years ago we bought a little cabinet and made it into a bar, to fill in the spot in our family room where the tree was. Can't remember what we had there before but after the tree came down it sure looked empty.

Then another year, again after Christmas we got this tv cabinet to replace an old icky oak wood armoire that held the tv in our livingroom. We don't have a tv in our bedroom so we have our second tv in the livingroom. The funniest thing ever, was when my hubby came home from work one day and asked "honey, why don't we have a tv in our bedroom?, everyone else does" like he just realized it. It was funny...anyway..

Last year we got a new flat screen tv from Santa! We needed something to put it on since the tv it replaced was a big black monster. So again after Christmas we bought this beaut from this quirky place called Potato Barn. Potato Barn is an interesting place...it was actually a potato barn at one time I am told. It's this big warehouse type room. Dimly lit, kinda dirty,(okay, really dirty) the owner is a grumpy man (until you get to know him). It's one of those places that it's fun to browse you'll never know what you'll find. I got this buffet for $200! It cost $700, but we got some money for Christmas and sold the big black monster.  Out of pocket expense $200! And I love it, I think it goes perfectly in the room.

So that brings me to this year. I have been wanting to get another chair for the livingroom. And guess what....the chair I've been wanting finally went on sale at Pier One. Love Her!

Next Christmas I'd like to replace this old sofa table in my entry way with something more...fun! Can hardly wait! Unless of course I find something between now and then.
